Japanese shohin bonsai - Aristolochia debilis:

An interesting Japanese shohin bonsai - Aristolochia debilis. Aristolochia debilis is a member of a large plant genus. Aristolochia species occur in a wide variety of climates and are therefore known as plants. It is no longer so well known as a bonsai, it is more unique in this area - especially in the shohin size category. An interesting feature of its flowers is that they start from the axils of the petiole and temporarily trap the insect until it is pollinated. It is not known whether it is so popular among lovers of bonsai specialties because of its lush foliage or the shape or interesting inflorescence of its leaves - or perhaps because of its habitus and due to its leaf shape it can stand many types of bonsai pots.

This plant, with its (current) height of 24 cm, has not yet reached the kifu size category (which is between 25 and 35 cm) but already exceeds the 20 cm high upper size limit, which is the shohin "ceiling". Yet we can say that we are talking about shohin bonsai as in this case it is common practice to classify your bonsai in the lower size category. If we imagine this Aristolochia at a shohin bonsai exhibition, perhaps the biggest charm of this phenomenon would not be its size - rather than its almost disproportionately large leaves. These leafs, on the other hand, not only take the bad aggro away with their special shape, but with their shade they give a composition a particularly fresh atmosphere. Thanks to its special appearance, we can choose Japanese wallscrolls, accent plants, tenpai, etc. with much more freedom. The blue - and - white classic cascade bonsai pot, reminiscent of the old Japanese world, is stylistically contingent in precision due to its hand painting, which harmonizes with the plant. On its side we see images depicting a turtle and a snake, which definitely enhance the lovability of the whole picture.
