Sekijoju style Acer buergerianum potted in handmade glazed pot. It has an eye-catching canopy and a strong root system (nebari). Raising the Trident maple is no problem for novice bonsaios either.
This type of tree has a strong root system and bears the pruning very well, recommended pruning from spring. When watering, make sure that the soil is always kept moist. Water requirements are lower than other Japanese maples, they don’t like too much water. It is a winter-hardy plant that can withstand colder weather conditions. However, it is advisable to overwinter with natural coverings so that the root ball is not damaged by any harder frosts. However, the higher humidity is taken for granted, along with nutrient replenishment, which is worth doing regularly from spring to fall. We recommend Biogold as an organic fertilizer. With regard to the planting medium, choose a soil with good drainage, such as the Akadama + Kiryuzuna mixture.
With regular foliage pruning and a little patience, we can achieve a spectacular branch system.
