Ficus retusa indoor bonsai in pot with stone
One of the easiest bonsai trees to maintain is the Ficus retusa. This plant will also feel good in a bright place and at a temperature that suits our own sense of comfort. Water it so that the soil is never too wet from the water but the soil is not dry either. If we like the overall picture, then when pruning, we should always cut off the overgrown shoots along the (imaginary) contour of the desired canopy. If we would like to grow a really beautiful and increasingly beautiful bonsai from it, we can shape it later by wiring - this way we will get an order of magnitude more beautiful plant in just one or two years.
It is worth replanting it once a year in the spring - replacing part of the soil with fresh bonsai soil mix.
It can receive nutrients in abundance from spring to autumn, but in the winter, half the amount of summer is sufficient.
If possible, keep the plant outdoors during the summer - it will thank you with tremendous growth!
Latin name: Ficus retusa
Category: Indoor bonsai
Level of maintenance difficulty: Extremely easy
Size: ~ 40 cm
