Crataegus cuneata, native to Japan and China, is a specialty of deciduous bonsai. Its lively autumn foliage and flexible branching system easily captivates. The genus Crataegus is one of the first to bloom in the spring. With the provision of the right environment and regular care, it thank the arrival of spring with white flowers. It can be considered a really hardy plant, the frosty periods will not work on it either - as bonsai it is worth protecting it from a harder frost with a thorough cover, such as mulch or straw. In nature, he prefers moist, clayey soils. However, when grown as a bonsai, you need a looser-textured, good water-permeable soil (akadama + kiryu mixture). He likes and needs direct sunlight for optimal growth. During the growing season, it is recommended to treat the plant with organic manure, as a balanced supply of nutrients is essential for abundant flowering and yield.
