Portulacaria afra - elephant bush, porkbush

This plant is part of the Portulacaria genus, it can grow up to 2-3 m height in natural environment. It's often used as a bonsai because of it's nature. The slow growth and the hardiness makes it a perfect bonsai material. It's a perfect indoor bonsai. As the time passes, the young shoots will grow brown crust.
Care: It can tolerate almost everything. In our climate in the winter you schould keep it dry, with minimal watering and lots of light. In the summer you can put it outside to a sunny place where you schould water it every day/ every two days. In the summer heat the best watering time is the evening, the soil won't dry out as fast and the plant can revitalize during the night. In the spring and autumn the best is if you water it in the morning, so it can dry during the day.
