Clay, slightly loamy and sandy soil types are ideal for it. 100% Akadama or Akadama and kiryuzuna are also good choices. It tolerates drought well, and constantly moist and wetter environments do not cause it any problems. It is recommended to water barberries when the soil has already dried out a little. Barberries are known to take care of themselves, so to speak, self-sufficient plants. They do not need to be fed as much as other deciduous trees or evergreens.
