Juiperus sabina - Savin juniper pre-bonsai:

 Juniperus sabina, commonly known as Heavy-smelling juniper bonsai material. This raw material is currently planted in a reddish-brown unglazed cascade bonsai pot, characterized by a healthy, vigorous root system. If possible, choose a bright place where it gets plenty of sunlight all year round. In winter, we need to protect ourselves if the temperature drops below -5 °C. Cover your root ball with natural material (mulch, straw or leafs) during the winter so that the green parts are out of the wintering medium. Some individuals of the Juniperus sabina change the color of the foliage to a brownish shade during frost periods, which is part of the internal frost protection mechanism, a natural reaction of the tree - they will turn green again in the spring. We must be careful not to overwater, because juniper roots do not tolerate constantly wet soil well. Before watering, the soil should dry out a little. Use a well-permeable and loose, airy medium (e.g. akadama or kiryuzuna or a mixture of these). Juniper bonsai are generally characterized by being hardy, which is why they can withstand heavy pruning. Juniper is a slow-growing species, but these bonsai are characterized by a characteristic appearance and a long lifespan.
