  • Tillandsia

Tillandsia seleriana: Natural habitat of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras 270-2100 meters high, in pine and oak forests. An epiphytic lifestyle pseudobulb species. The bulbs are formed by widening the leaves at the base of the leaves and forming a cavity. It can store nutrients and water in this cavity. Ants or other insects may also settle in these cavities. For them, it is a good hiding place, in exchange for their feces and decomposition products to provide nutrients for the plant. This coexistence is called myrmecophyta. The plant size is 20-25cm, but there is a Mexican mini version of only 10-12cm. The leaves are green, scaly, densely covered and claw-like. The inflorescence is pink, the flowers are purple and tubular. Keep in a sunny bright place. It tolerates drought well. It also overwinters at 5-10 degrees Celsius.
