Coelia bella is native to Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, and Costa Rica. This orchid grows on the ground at an altitude of 500-1500 metres above sea level rarely epiphytic.
Coelia bella is a medium to large sized terrestrial orchid that prefers warm to cool growing condition.
Coelia bella blooms in the summer on 15 cm inflorescense with up to 6 scented flowers. Always flowers on a new pseudobulb.
Coelia bella likes bright light but never expose to direct sun.
Average summer daily temperature not higher than 25 degrees, at night 18 degrees.
Winter temperature 12-16 degrees.
Humidity 50-70% too dry air adversly affects the development of the plant.
Coelia bella can be grown in pots only in good quality potting mix. Use at least 60% of peat.
Repotting is only recommended when the plant outgrows the pot or if it is not developing as it expected. The best time for repotting is after flowering.
During growing season Coelia bella needs frequent and abundant watering, but never let your plant to sit in water.
During growing season fertilize them weekly.
During resting period when the new growth is mature and the same size as the old ones stop fertilizing, lower the temperature and the watering should be only occasional or light spray of the substrate and the plant.
