The Coelogyne intermedia gives you a stunning show when the scented flowers appear on the plant at the end of the winter or beginning of the spring...
Coelogyne intermedia orchid looks stunning at the end of the winter or the beginning of spring when the white scented flowers appear. The white scented flowers cover the whole plant.
The Coelogyne intermedia is a hybrid between C. cristata x C. tomentosa.
Only use good quality orchid mix that is loose and airy and has plenty of nutrient. Always use wide and shallow orchid pots or baskets where they can grow into big clumps.
Coelogyne intermedia roots don't like to be desturbed so repot them only when the new shoots are over hanging the edge of the pot. The best time is in the spring after flowering.
During growing season they need plenty of watering and fertilize them regularly (always use orchid fertilizer).
They can be put out into the garden during summer, but never expose them to direct sunshine they like strong airmovement.
Slugs and snails like them so don't forget to use slugbait when they are outside.
During autumn and winter reduce the number of waterings and the fertilizing, in the cooler months only keep the potting mix wet and never let them sit in water for long period of time. Keep your eye on the bulbs don't let them become wrinkly.
During winter they need more light so if you can keep them close to the window.
