Tillandsia velutina: Its distribution areas are Mexico and Guatemala, where it occurs at an altitude of about 1800m. Its leaves are spirally arranged around the stem, greenish-gray in color and velvety to the touch. When flowering, the inflorescence petals and often the entire foliage turn bright red. The flowers are hidden among the inflorescence petals and are purple in color. It is an easily reproducing (growing shoots), fast-growing species, forming a colony over time.
